The seminar focuses on discovering green infrastructure as a multifunctional tool for urban sustainability and resiliency that not only prevents flooding but can help restore the natural water cycle that has been adversely impacted by urbanization. Various case studies were presented highlighting important factors to consider when implementing green infrastructure, including establishing green infrastructure as local public policy, the importance of considering soil properties for infiltration and plant establishment, selection of native plants and engaging neighboring communities in its ongoing maintenance.
