NADB to participate in the U.S.-Mexico Border Summit 2016

San Antonio, Texas. – The North America Development Bank (NADB) will participate in the U.S.- Mexico Border Summit 2016, which will take place August 4 th and August 5th in both El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.

This summit is intended to bring together government and business leaders to discuss the issues and challenges facing the border region, as well as the opportunities it offers. The event is organized by the “Borderplex Alliance,” a binational nonprofit organization dedicated to boosting economic development and prosperity in the region of Ciudad Juarez and El Paso and Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Jesse J. Hereford, Director of Public Affairs for NADB, will participate in the panel discussion on “Improving the Quality of Life along the Border,” along with other business leaders from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua; Tijuana, Baja California; and El Paso and Austin, Texas. The panel is scheduled for Friday morning, August 5 th, in the Centro Profesional de Ingenieros y Arquitectos in Ciudad Juarez.

To date, NADB has approved financing for the implementation of 11 environmental infrastructure projects in the municipality of Juarez and 10 in El Paso County, mainly related to water and wastewater improvements. Altogether, these projects have received loans and grants totaling almost US$200 million, benefitting a population of more than 2.0 million.

As part of the program for this event, Roberta S. Jacobson, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, and Carlos Manuel Sada Solana, Mexican Ambassador to the U.S. as well as U.S. Congressman Beto O’Rourke are expected to attend.
