The purpose of this project is to develop an online Artificial Intelligence (AI) salinity forecast tool for water users of the Lower Rio Grande, where salinity levels have slowly been increasing and impacting agricultural production. The AI tool will utilize data such as subbasin rainfall, monitored water temperature and river discharge housed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) and its Mexican section (CILA) for generating the forecast data. On-site trainings/presentations will be carried out on how to use this online forecasting tool to the Texas Counties of Willacy, Hidalgo and Cameron.
