The solid waste generated in the Municipalities of Los Herreras and Dr. Gonzalez was disposed in an uncontrolled open dumpsite due to the lack of a suitable infrastructure for solid waste disposal causing soil and water pollution, risk of fires, and risks to public health.
Achieve a proper regional waste management in the municipalities of Los Herreras and Dr. Gonzalez, in the State of Nuevo Leon through construction of regional sanitary landfills, contributing to the reduction of inadequate solid disposal, soil and groundwater contamination and the risk of vector-related disease and other harmful effects.
The Scope of the projects was to improve solid waste disposal through the closure of two illegal dumpsites and the construction of two new landfills above the existing closed sites, in accordance with Mexican regulations. The Projects eliminated improperly disposed waste in the quantity of approximately 1.3 tons per day in los Herreras and 2.3 tons per day in Dr. Gonzalez.
