Financing closed for first utility-scale solar park in Mexico through a self-supply scheme with private off-takers

San Antonio, TX – The North American Development Bank (NADB) and Buenavista Renewables (BVR) have signed a US$15.5 million loan agreement for construction of the Los Santos Solar I Park located in Ahumada, Chihuahua. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) is also providing senior debt in support of the project.

First U.S.-Mexico cross-border wind farm inaugurated in Tecate, Baja California

Tecate, Baja California, August 19, 2014. – The Governor of Baja California, Francisco Vega de la Madrid, along with Dr. Luis Videgaray, the Mexican Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, and Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, the Mexican Secretary of Energy, presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the first U.S.-Mexico cross-border wind farm, which cost approximately US$300 million to build and is supplying energy to San Diego County, California.

Bisbee provides first-time sewer service to Tintown residents

Bisbee, Arizona – A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today to mark the completion of the Tintown Sanitary Sewer Project. The North American Development Bank (NADB) has provided a US$1 million grant to partially fund the US$1.69 million project. This is the first time Tintown residents are receiving services from a dedicated and centralized sewer system.

New Aqueduct to Serve Rio Grande Mid-Valley in Texas

Mercedes, Texas – A dedication ceremony was held today to mark the completion of the Anacuitas Aqueduct located along Expressway 83 in Mercedes. The North American Development Bank (NADB) provided a US$1.25 million grant to Hidalgo and Cameron Counties Irrigation District No. 9 (H&CCID No. 9) to partially fund the US$4.5 million project, while H&CCID No. 9 covered the rest of the financing with its own funds. The aqueduct conveys 388 million gallons of water per day from the Rio Grande River, up through the Delta area and over to Weslaco.

The 40-hour webinar, “Turn Down the Heat: Why a 4°C Warmer World Must be Avoided” was offered in a group session by NADB through the massive open online course (MOOC) platform of the Word Bank.

Sunland Park, New Mexico receives $8 million grant for new wastewater treatment plant

San Antonio, Texas. – The North American Development Bank (NADB) and the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) signed an $8 million grant agreement to finance the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) that will serve the communities of Sunland Park and Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

NADB-BECC Board of Directors approves US$24.8 million in financing for four new infrastructure projects

Tijuana, B.C. – The Board of Directors of the North American Development Bank (NADB) and the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) approved the certification and financing of US$24.87 million for four new infrastructure projects in the U.S.-Mexico border region. The projects were approved at the Board’s semiannual meeting, held today in Tijuana, Baja California. In addition to these project approvals, advances were made on issues related to the integration of BECC and NADB into a single institution.

Improvements to the wastewater collection system in Tijuana, B.C. receives US$3.0 million grant

San Antonio, Texas. – The North American Development Bank (NADB) signed a US$3.0 million grant agreement with the local water utility, Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT), to partially finance a project for the rehabilitation of sewer mains and residential sewer connections in Tijuana, Baja California.
